Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: In a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot on the outer side of the knight's left shin. Reverse: In a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; a ball between its arms. Allegorical Romanesque style; themes: martyrs, knight, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; depiction related to Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Issue mark: spearhead; crosses. c. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 12.5 mm; weight 0.48 g.
