Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland, c. 1107–1138). Obverse: in a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two of them with one dot each); between its arms, one ball (two of them with one smaller dot each); one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, allegories, chain mail, mouths, martyrs, knight, dragons, Romanesque style, dragon, knights, mouths, Middle Ages, Adalbert (St., ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spear(s).
