Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138 / 1107–1138). Obverse: within a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two bearing one dot each); between its arms one ball (two bearing one smaller dot each); one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Attributes/imagery: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, allegories, chain mail, mouths, martyrs, knight, dragons, Romanesque style, dragon, knights, mouths, Middle Ages, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spear, spears.
