Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138), c. 1125–1138. Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; under the knight's right elbow, an isosceles cross with arms terminating in balls. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross terminating in balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; between the arms, a single ball; one arm bears a crossbar and intersects the other at approximately one-third of its length. Romanesque style; themes include fight between good and evil, martyrs, Adalbert, fight against pagans. Coin; Poland, Kraków. Diameter 12.3–12.9 mm; weight 0.47 g.
