Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; c. 1125–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a sun beneath the knight's right elbow. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one dot on each); a sphere at the intersection of the arms; additional spheres between the arms (some dots indistinct due to wear). Iconography: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, chain mail, crosses, mouths, dragons, knights, fight between good and evil, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), fight against pagans; Romanesque style. Minted in Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 11.8–12.2 mm; weight 0.42 g.
