Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; c. 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an inverted dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres; between its arms two spheres (one dot on each) and two suns. Allegorical imagery includes knights, dragons, martyrs, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil; motifs: equal-armed cross, spearhead (issue mark), spears, chain mail, mouths. Romanesque style. Possible association with Saint Adalbert. c. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.8–13.1 mm. Weight: 0.60 g.
