Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; a dot at the crossing of the arms and one ball between them. Iconography: spearhead, equal-armed cross, chain mail, mouth, knight, dragons; themes of martyrs, fight against pagans, struggle between good and evil; Romanesque style; possible reference to St. Adalbert. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter ca. 13.5–13.7 mm; weight 0.30 g.
