Obverse: in border a male bust with long hair and a moustache turned to the right, in armor decorated with a ruff, separating the rim inscription 'ONETA.DVCVM.CURLAN.&.SE.' Reverse: in border an eagle and a chaser, above the value number III. Under the coats of arms, an inscription in four lines with date digits separated by an arrow: 'GROS*ARG/TRIP.DVCV/CVR.ET.SE./*9 - 9*'. Inscription date 1599. Maker/issuer: Friedrich Kettler (Duke of Courland and Semigallia; 1587–1642) and Wilhelm Kettler (Duke of Courland and Semigallia; 1574/1587–1616/1640) — iconography includes busts, male busts in ruff and armor, portraits of rulers facing right.
