Denarius of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161). Silver coin (weight 3.12 g, axis 180°), struck 158–159, Rome, Roman Empire. Obverse: Emperor's head in a laurel wreath right, inscription 'ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP', pearl border. Reverse: Veiled emperor stands facing left, holding a patera above a tripod in his right hand, left hand at his side, inscription 'VOTA SVSCEP DECENN III' with 'COS IIII' below the line, pearl border. Iconography: imperial busts; emperor standing in front of a tripod.
