Double Augustor; maker: Croll, Ernest Dietrich (fl. 1753–1763). Subject: August III Sas (King of Poland 1733–1763; Elector of Saxony 1696–1763). Place/date: Leipzig, 1756. Object: thaler (coin). Obverse: Crowned bust of the king in right profile, with the Order of the Golden Fleece on the chest. Inscription: D:G:AUGUSTUS III.REX POLONIARUM. Reverse: Under a crown, a five-field shield surrounded by two palm branches, with Polish, Lithuanian, and Saxon coats of arms; at the bottom EC /10:TH. Inscription: SAC.ROM.IMP.ARCHIM. ET ELECT.1756. Edge: decorated with notches. Material: coin (metal). Diameter: 28.5 mm. Weight: 13.30 g., A circular metallic object with a golden color fills the image, showing a raised ornate design and decorative edge; at the top is a detailed crown with rounded and floral motifs, below which sits a large circular shield divided into four quadrants containing stylized figures of animals and riders, and a small central shield; flowing ribbon-like floral elements flank the main shield on both sides; the surface shows subtle variations in gold tone and slight wear, with fine engraved lines and beaded border around the rim.
