Sugar bowl with a lid and a branch handle. Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen (1710–1763), manufacturer. Porcelain sugar bowl, cylindrical, rounded at the base, with a slightly arched lid. Lid handle is a modeled, polychrome branch with four flowers and leaves at the ends of side shoots: three forget-me-nots, two brick-red flowers, and one yellow. On the sides of the body are two cartouche frames and one on the cover, each formed by purple draperies suspended from small flower bouquets and dry rocailles, topped and bottomed on the symmetry axis with brick-red draperies suspended on plant branches. Within the cartouches are landscape miniatures with architecture and staffage painted in purple camaieu: (1) fragment of a hill with trees, two figures, and a building in a valley; (2) two buildings among bushes; cover: (3) a plateau with a house and a hill in the distance at right.
