Surface engraved on both sides; underside engraved with names of French and European cities and their longitudes. Signed 'Butterfield / Paris.' On the underside: decharge mark for very small items of the lessee Étienne Ridereau (lily flower in a rhombus) struck between 29 VII 1684 and 1 X 1687. Materials: measuring instrument; dimensions: height 11.2 cm, width 8.2 cm.
