A request to the Mother of God, Polish saints and blessed; Lewicki, Jan Nepomucen (1795–1871), graphic artist; Woznicki, Kazimierz (1878–1949); Catholic saints; prayers; Our Lady of Czestochowa (painting); blessed; 1867; Paris; graphic; graphic matrix; graphic plate; height 25.3 cm; width 19.6 cm; thickness 0.2 cm, A rectangular metal plate with a slightly raised rim and rounded corners, shown flat against a neutral background; the surface is mottled with a range of gray tones, including pale silver, mid-gray, and darker gray areas, with a few faint brownish stains and spots of darker discoloration. Etched into the plate is a large circular central design surrounded by many small grouped human figures arranged in a roughly circular pattern; the figures appear in robes and cloaks and are shown in various seated and standing poses, with some figures holding staffs or similar objects. Radiating lines and subtle shading surround the groups, and faint decorative marks and ornamental shading fill the space between the figures and the central circle. Near the lower area of the plate there is a ribbon-like banner element and additional faint engraved shapes and patterns; the overall finish shows light scratches, scuffs, and areas of wear that give the metal a slightly textured, aged appearance.
