Recto: Our Lady of the Sand (Sum Mater & Decor Carmeli); verso: Fragment of a composition with the inscription 'ARIES'. Mary (mother of Jesus Christ). Image of the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus in closed crowns, in bust, enclosed in a linear frame with areas for inscriptions at the top and bottom. Depicts Our Lady of Piasek, located in the Kraków church of the Carmelite Fathers on Piasek, dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Legend: a Carmelite painter (ca. 1500) began the image on the external wall above a side door, left when the prayer bell rang, and an invisible hand completed it. Stanislaw Tomkowicz dated the painting to the Renaissance; currently dated to the fourth quarter of the 15th century or around 1500. The Carmelite artist remains anonymous. Ca. 1800.
