Christ the Wind-Bearer (Christ Calms the Storm), Czerski, Stanislaw (1777–1833), graphic artist; Peter the Apostle (St.; ?–ca. 64); Tyszkiewicz, Konstanty (1806–1868). The image shows Christ sleeping in a boat on a stormy lake, awakened by Saint Peter. The composition is enclosed in a triple linear frame. The engraving was made by Father Stanislaw Czerski in Salanty, Samogitia. As a parish priest, with the help of a young assistant he adopted, he devoted himself to engraving images of saints with Samogitian inscriptions: he engraved these images for his parishioners, who, as inhabitants of pure Samogitia, knew no other language. The plates, press and tools were transferred to Vilnius after his death. Date: 1822–1832. Medium: print, graphic matrix/plate. Dimensions: height 7.5 cm, width 5.2 cm.
