Basket maker, Plonski, Michal (1778–1812), graphic artist; depiction: basket maker, dogs, landscapes, craftsmen, baskets, conversations; genre scenes, portraits (children, men, women), beggars; medium: etching/graphic plate (graphic matrix), height 30 cm, width 23 cm; date: 1805. The board was printed from this plate and was included in the second edition of Plonski's Recueil de 19 planches études des figures dessinées d'après nature à Amsterdam en 1802, et gravées spirituellement à l'eau-forte par M. Plonski Paris. Plonski created all the engravings included in the portfolio while working abroad around 1800, first in the Netherlands—where he likely studied Rembrandt and made graphic copies of Dutch paintings—and later in Paris, reproducing Dutch paintings from the Louvre for publishers and publishing Recueil. In 1810 he sold his plates and returned to Poland.
