Crown thaler, Sylm, Frederick William (fl. 1765–1767), Stanislaw August Poniatowski (King of Poland; 1732–1798). 1766. Silver coin (thaler), dia. 42.5–43.4 mm, weight 27.54 g. Obverse: Bust of Stanislaw August in armour wearing the Order of the White Eagle, turned right; legend divided at the bottom: STANISLAUS AUGUSTUS D. REX POL. MDLITHU. Pearl border. Reverse: Under a crown, a round five-field coat of arms (Poland—Orzel, Lithuania—Pogon, Poniatowski family—Ciolek) within a wreath entwined with a sash bearing the motto RO, ID, - LEGE -, - GRE; Order of the White Eagle on the sash; letters F. - S. on the sides; legend divided twice: X EX MARCA PURA - COLONIEN. 1766. Pearl border; decorative edge. Style/iconography: portraits of rulers, coats of arms, multi-field coats of arms, coats of arms under a crown, orders (Order of the White Eagle). Place: Warsaw, Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569–1795).
