Obverse: in the border, a male bust in armor girded with a sash and wearing a wig, turned to the right, dividing the rim inscription D.G.ERNEST.IOH.IN.LC&-Rw. Under the ruler's mitre separating the rim inscription, two coats of arms with the White Eagle and the Pogon (Chase), below the value numeral 3 under which the letters ICS. In rim: MON.ARGENT.DVC:CVRLAN. Date: 1764, Mitawa, Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. Coin, weight 1.74 g. Iconography: Ernest Jan Biron (1690–1772) — princely male bust in armor portrayed to the right; portraits of ruler in rich/ceremonial armor; shields and coats of arms.
