Lithuanian grosz on a Polish foot, Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland; 1544–1572). Polish coin of the Jagiellonian dynasty. Obverse: crowned male (royal) bust in armour turned right, separating a half-circle inscription: SIGIS·AVG·REX; below in two lines: POLO·MAG / DVX·L. Reverse: Lithuanian Pogon (Chase) turned left; below, under the crown dividing the date 15-66, a tied monogram composed of the letters SA and the Columns of Gediminas coat of arms, which divide the rim inscription: MO·MAGNI·DVCA·LI. Date: 1566. Place: Vilnius, Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Poland–Lithuania). Coin; diameter 21.6–22.2 mm; weight 1.82 g.
