Lithuanian grosz on a Polish foot, Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland; 1544–1572). Polish coin, 1548. Obverse: Crowned male bust in armor turned right, inscription in half-circle: SIGIS - AVG.REX; below in two lines: .POLO.MAG./.DVX.L. Reverse: Lithuanian Pogon (mounted knight) turned left, below a crown dividing the date 15 - 48, a tied monogram composed of the letters SA and the Columns of Gediminas coat of arms, which divide the rim inscription: MONETA.MAGNI.DVCA.LITVA. Diameter approx. 22.8–23.2 mm; weight 2.05 g.
