Forgery of a crown thaler imitating Sigismund I the Old (King of Poland; 1506–1548), made by Gotfryd Majnert (1767–1846), falsely dated 1529 but made in 1836. Obverse: bust of Sigismund I in a cap, crown and armor, turned right, inscription SIGISMVNDVS.PRIM.REX.POLONIE. Reverse: Polish coat of arms under a crown surrounded by Sforza coats of arms, Ruthenia, Prussia and Lithuania, inscription DEVS.IN.VIRTVTE.TVA.LETABITVR.REX. Coin; diameter 43.4 mm, weight 26.87 g., A round metallic coin with a worn surface showing a high-relief profile of a crowned person facing right, wearing a crown with decorative elements and a textured headdress, and a layered garment or collar around the neck; the coin has a beaded inner border and a raised outer rim with several raised characters around the edge that are not described; overall colors visible are shades of gray, silver, and darker tarnished gray-brown on the metal, with varied patina creating lighter and darker areas across the surface.
