Gdansk ducat, Klüwer, Filip (fl. 1588–1601); portrait of Sigismund III Vasa (King of Poland, 1587–1632). Obverse: in a beaded border a bust of the king in crown and armour, with a lying ruff and a lion's head on his shoulder, interrupted at the top by the rim legend 'SIGIS.3.D : G .REX. POL.ET.SVE.DP'. Reverse: in a pearl border two lions supporting a shield with the coat of arms of Gdansk, above it a monogram with the letters P, K; in the rim '.MONE.NO.AVR.CIVI.GEDANENSIS.96.' At the top in the rim the mint master's mark — a hand with a dagger. 1596, Gdansk, Poland; coin; weight 3.50 g; axis 270°.
