Title at top: 'Guan sheng di jun xiang' — portrait of Saint Lord Guan (Guan Yu, 160–220), the famous general of the Three Kingdoms Period. Includes one unidentified object (probably 'niu' — a seal with ringed handle) below the title, and the impression of a seal reading 'han shou ting hou zhi yin' — seal of 'han shou ting hou,' a title granted to Guan Yu by Cao Cao (215–220). Depicts Guan Yu wearing a warrior robe, carrying a long-handled knife ('guan gong dao' or 'qing long yan yue da dao'), riding a horse ('chi tu ma', the famed speedy horse given to him by Cao Cao).
