Lithuanian grosz on a Polish foot, Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland; 1544–1572), Jagiellon dynasty. Obverse: crowned male bust in armor turned right, separating at the top an inscription in a half-circle: SIGIS-AVG.REX; at the bottom horizontally in two lines: .POLO.MAG./.DVX.L. Reverse: Lithuanian Pogon turned left, below a crown dividing the date 15-46, a tied monogram composed of the letters SA and the coat of arms of the Columns of Gediminas, which divide the rim inscription: MONETA.MAGNI.DVC.LITVA. 1546. Iconography: royal bust, monograms (tied monogram SA), Columns of Gediminas coat of arms, Pogon coat of arms. Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Vilnius; Poland. Coin; diameter ~22.2–23.0 mm; weight 1.83 g.
