Lithuanian grosz on a Polish foot, Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland; 1544–1572). Polish coin, 1568, Vilnius, Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Obverse: Crowned male bust in armour turned right, separating the inscription in a half-circle at the top: SIGIS - AVG.REX; at the bottom horizontally in two lines: POLO, MAG/. Reverse: Lithuanian Chaser facing left; below, under the crown dividing the date 15 - 68, a tied monogram composed of the letters SA and the Columns of Giedymina (coat of arms of Lithuania) that divide the rim inscription: MONETA.MA, I.DVCA.LIT. Attributes: Jagiellonian dynasty, coats of arms, Pogon (coat of arms; Lithuania), royal bust, monograms, SA monogram. Diameter 22.7–23.7 mm; weight 1.65 g.
