The middle ground contains a group of trees and bushes with varied foliage, and beyond them a group of buildings including a larger multi-storey house on a raised terrace and other smaller structures arranged along the water; there is a fence and a sloping path leading down toward the river. Colors visible include beige and tan tones in the sky and paper, greens in the trees and grass, browns in the tree trunks and buildings, muted reds or terracotta on some roofs, and touches of blue and gray in the water and shaded areas. The image is bordered by a darker rectangular frame set within a wider tan mounting board.
