Denarius, Septimius Severus 146–211; Roman emperor 193–211 issuer. Obverse: Head of Septimius Severus with laurel wreath facing right, legend L SEPT SEV PERT - AVG IMP III. Reverse: Pax seated left, holding a twig in his outstretched right hand and a cornucopia in his left, legend PACI AV - GVSTI. Horns of plenty. Iconography/personifications. 194 CE. Roman Empire; Rome. Coin; diameter 18.0–19.0 mm; weight 2.50 g; axis 0°., A round metallic object with a worn, uneven edge and a textured surface showing areas of darker gray and lighter silver; the central design depicts a seated human figure facing right with an arm extended and holding a branch-like object, and the figure appears to be sitting on a stool or chair with vertical supports and draped fabric at the side; a group of raised, curved shapes form a ring near the rim around much of the coin, and small irregular pits and scratches scatter across the surface.
