Denarius, Septimius Severus 146–211; Roman emperor 193–211 issuer. Obverse: Head of Septimius Severus in a laurel wreath facing right, inscription L SEPT SEV PE - RT AVG IMP IIII all around. Reverse: Minerva standing left, holding a spear in her right hand pointing forward and downward and a round shield in her left, inscription P M TR P II - COS II PP all around. Date: 194–195. Place: Rome, Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Type: coin. Diameter: 16.0–18.0 mm. Weight: 2.75 g. Axis: 180°., A circular metallic coin with a worn surface showing the right-facing profile of a bearded man with curly hair and a laurel or ribbon tying the hair at the back; the relief emphasizes facial features and textured hair and beard. The coin appears silver-gray with darker gray patina in recessed areas and a few small brownish spots. The rim is irregular and slightly dented, and the background around the coin is plain white.
