Sestertius of Antoninus Pius 86–161; Roman emperor 138–161. Bronze coin. Obverse: head of Antoninus Pius in a laurel wreath facing right, legend ANTONINVS AVG - PIVS PP IMP II. Reverse: Securitas seated left on a chair formed of crossed cornucopias, holding a scepter in her right hand and resting her left elbow on the chair, legend TR POT XX - COS IIII; control fields SC. Date: 156–157. Diameter 31.0–32.5 mm, weight 26.60 g, axis 0°. Place of origin: Rome, Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Iconography: personifications, scepters, cornucopias; issuer: Antoninus Pius., A round, worn coin with an uneven edge showing a relief of a seated figure facing left; the surface has mottled dark brown and black areas with lighter brown highlights where the metal is exposed, and traces of greenish patina in places.
