Sestertius of Antoninus Pius 86–161; Roman emperor 138–161. Obverse: bare-headed bust of Antoninus Pius to right, legend IMP T AEL CAES HADRI ANTONINVS AVG PIVS. Reverse: Annona standing left; in her right hand she holds two ears of corn above a modius filled with grain, in her left hand she holds a cornucopia above the stern of a ship; legend P M TR P POT COS II with SC in fields. Iconography: personifications, ears of corn, ships, modius, cornucopias; Annona standing with ears of corn above a modius. Roman, 139 CE. Coin: bronze sestertius; diameter 30.5–31.0 mm, weight 24.05 g, axis 180°., A worn round metal object with a textured, uneven surface showing a profile of a head in low relief; the object displays a patina of brown and dark brown with areas of lighter golden-brown highlights and small greenish spots; the edge is slightly irregular and the surface has pitted and mottled patterns across a few raised and recessed areas.
