Denarius of Alexander Severus reigned 222–235. Obverse: Bust of Alexander Severus with laurel wreath and paludamentum facing right; pearl border; inscription IMPCMAVRSEVALEXANDAVG. Reverse: Mars in military dress and helmet standing left, holding a branch in his right hand and leaning his left against a standing spear; pearl border; inscription PMTRP C OSPP. Minted Rome, 222. Coin; diameter ~18–19 mm; weight 2.41 g., A round, worn coin in shades of gray and dark silver sits against a white background, showing a raised central figure in a standing pose with one arm extended and the other holding a vertical object; the coin surface is textured with worn relief and a few irregular edges, and there is a faint ring of raised marks around the perimeter.
