Denarius; Obv.: Bust of Alexander Severus with laurel wreath and paludamentum facing right, pearl rim; inscription IMPCMAVRSEVALEXANDAVG. Rev.: Jupiter naked in a cloak stands facing left, holding a thunderbolt in his right hand and a long scepter in his left, pearl rim; inscription PMTRP COSPP. Roman, 222 CE. Minted in Rome. Coin; diameter ~17.0–19.0 mm; weight 2.51 g., A round metal coin with a worn, uneven edge shown against a white background; the coin appears silvery gray with darker gray areas from tarnish. The coin surface shows a raised figure standing in the center holding a long staff, with visible drapery or cloth folds around the figure; the figure and surrounding relief have lighter gray highlights contrasting with darker recessed areas. There is a faint decorative border around part of the coin rim and a group of small raised shapes along the edge. The overall appearance is metallic with shades of silvery gray and dark gray.
