Reverse: VENVS CAELESTIS — Venus seated on a throne facing left, holding an apple in her right hand and a scepter in her left; at her feet stands a child with outstretched arms, pearl border. Rome; 218–222 CE. Coin denarius, diameter c.17.0–17.5 mm, weight 2.00 g., A round metallic coin with a dark gray to brownish patina showing the raised profile of a person facing right; the person has short, wavy hair and a visible ear, and is depicted from the shoulders up with clothing folds suggested at the neckline; the coin edge is irregular and slightly raised with a patterned rim on one side; overall colors visible are dark gray, brown, and a few lighter gray highlights.
