Pattern cut on the pattern: three parallel horizontal stripes of chrysanthemum heads with leaves. Stencil, Japan, 19th/20th century Meiji period, 1868–1912. Height 40.2 cm, width 17.8 cm; ise-katagami., A horizontal rectangular artwork shows a dark brown background with a pattern of three large stylized flowers and surrounding leaves rendered in white cutout shapes, connected by vertical white stripes of varying thickness; the flowers have layered petals and detailed leaf veins, and there are darker brown irregular stains and smudges on the background, with the left edge showing a lighter brown rectangular patch and a small darker mark, while the composition overall contrasts white floral elements against brown tones.
