Incense burner koro with cover, gift; Japanese, Meiji 1868–1912; 2nd half of the 19th century. Incense burner in the shape of a cuboid box on four slightly arched legs standing on a tall, rectangular base. Decoration: panels with relief karashishi and peonies. Cover with four holes topped with a qilin. Bronze vessel; height 22.0 cm, width 9.5 cm, depth 7.5 cm., A carved decorative object in brown and dark brown tones stands against a plain gray background, featuring a sculpted animal figure at the top in darker brown with lighter brown highlights, ornate carved floral and leaf motifs on the central body in mixed brown shades, curved and carved supports with glossy brown finishes, a rectangular base with carved ornamentation and a small area of lighter brown wear, and a subtle reflection of the object visible below on the smooth surface.
