Cover: wood covered with brown and black lacquer, painted with gold maki-e; bone faces, superimposed; decoration: landscape with two figures in a boat. Pages decorated with floral and landscape motifs. Album; height 17.1 cm, width 23.2 cm., An oval illustration centered on a fabric background shows a warrior in patterned armor riding a horse through water, with the warrior holding a raised weapon and wearing a helmet and layered garments in dark gray, red, green, blue, and gold tones; the horse is light brown with darker mane and colorful tack in blue and pink. Surrounding the oval are painted plant motifs including leafy branches and clusters of small rounded flowers in shades of green, orange, and pink, and thin twiggy branches in gray and pink. A small bird with brown, cream, and white feathers appears near the lower left of the oval. The fabric background is a light beige or off-white, framed at the bottom by a dark brown band and edged with a patterned border in tan and brown.
