Vase, Cloisonné enamel on copper with brass rims at the spout and foot. Short, slightly flared neck. Decoration on a blue background: large motifs of rose bushes and lilies, small flowers, two butterflies and a bird. Iconography: flowers, butterflies, roses, lilies, birds kachôga. Japanese, Meiji period, ca. 1905–1908. Vessel; height 30.7 cm, diameter 10.6 cm., A tall vase with a rounded body and slightly flared rim sits against a plain background; the vase is primarily bright blue with decorative bands of reddish-brown at the top and bottom, and features painted floral motifs including a large spotted white lily, pink rose-like flowers, dark green leaves, a small purple butterfly, and other leafy sprigs in shades of green and red, with areas of black used for stems and leaf accents and a thin metallic rim at the mouth.
