Vase, Cloisonné enamel on copper with brass rims at the spout and foot. Short, slightly flared neck. Decoration on a blue background: large motifs of rose bushes and lilies, small flowers, two butterflies and a bird kachôga. Japanese, Meiji period, ca. 1905–1908. Vessel; height 30.7 cm, diameter 10.6 cm., A tall cylindrical vase with a rounded shoulder and flared rim sits against a neutral gray background; the main body is a bright sky blue with painted motifs including a group of green and black birds in flight and floral arrangements featuring white and pink blossoms, a blue flower, and dark green leaves, with some reddish-brown branches. The neck and base areas have a band of mottled reddish-brown decorated with small floral accents, and the interior rim shows a darker blue. The vase casts a soft reflection on the surface below.
