Ritual ladle, Chinese, Qing 1644–1911, Chinese Buddhism ritual vessel with swastikas painted gold. A chain and silk cord with a tassel hang from the handle. Late 19th century, China. Length 57.5 cm., A long black ladle-like object with a glossy finish extends horizontally across the image, attached at the right end to a short black cup also with a glossy surface; a circular decorative motif appears on the cup in a contrasting gold color. From near the left end of the handle hangs a short chain and a braided beige cord that ends in a tassel made of coarse brown and tan fibers; the tassel rests on a reflective grey surface that mirrors the objects. The background is a smooth, uniform grey.
