Brush vessel, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, early 20th century. Porcelain container with bas-relief decoration of figural scenes in a landscape and images of birds; reserves with bas-relief decoration of various shapes. Height 16.4 cm; diameter 11.9 cm., A cylindrical wooden container with a warm brown patina stands upright on a pale surface against a neutral gray background, its exterior carved with an oval relief on the front depicting a stylized bird with outstretched wings and flowing tail, and flanked by carved openwork panels showing organic and geometric motifs; the rim shows a carved band with repeating leaf-like shapes, and the wood grain and some darker and lighter brown variations are visible across the piece.
