Helmet, Islamic art, Turkish, Ottoman dynasty 1299–1922, militaria headgear. Movable cheekpieces and a nosepiece passing through the browband. Fluted bell. Browband and cheekpieces connected with copper rivets; neckpiece additionally with brass hinges. 16th century, Turkey. Weight 1.92 kg; height 39.0 cm; width 37.0 cm; depth 24.0 cm., A metal conical helmet with a pointed top and ribbed vertical grooves, showing a weathered silver-gray surface with a few copper-colored rivets and accents; it has a flared lower rim with hinged cheek guards and a hanging neck guard composed of overlapping plates fastened with copper-colored rivets, plus a curved strap extending downward on one side, all set against a light gray background.
