Helmet, 16th century, Turkey; Islamic, Turkish, Ottoman dynasty 1299–1922. Militaria headgear with movable cheekpieces and a nosepiece passing through the browband. Fluted bell. Browband and cheekpieces connected with copper rivets; neckpiece additionally with brass hinges. Weight 1.92 kg; height 39.0 cm; width 37.0 cm; depth 24.0 cm., A metal conical helmet with a pointed finial at the top, showing a weathered silver-gray surface with areas of darker gray patina and small patches of copper-colored wear; the helmet has vertical ridged decorations on the dome and a teardrop-shaped raised plate on the front, a brim that angles down slightly at the front, and a chin strap hanging below; a band around the lower dome is secured with a group of round copper-colored rivets, and additional copper-colored rivets decorate the ear guards and lower edges, which are segmented and show inner brownish leather lining.
