Vase, Ovoid, bulbous vase made of a pewter alloy, on a wide base with a wide, flared neck. Engraved decoration inlaid with a thin layer of silver: cranes among reeds by the water; a symmetrically repeated floral motif on the neck. Kikko pattern, grasses, birds, water, cranes iconography. Japanese, Meiji period 1868–1912, 19th/20th century. Vessel. Height 30.1 cm; diameter 15.6 cm., A rounded metal vase with a flared neck sits against a pale gray background, showing a dark bronze-brown surface with areas of lighter metallic sheen and subtle greenish patina; the flared rim area features engraved decorative panels with repeating leaf-like motifs in a lighter metallic tone, the bulbous body displays delicate engraved scenes of foliage and grasses in a pale metallic contrast, and the slightly flared foot has a geometric honeycomb-like pattern in similar bronze and lighter metallic colors, with a soft reflection visible beneath the vase.
