Hu-type vessel; maker: Hôun; Japanese; ceremonial bronze wine vessel hu; 1st half of the 20th century Meiji/Taishô periods; globular body with narrow, rather high neck and conical stem; decorated with profiled circles around the body; two mascarons with handles; light green artificial patina; height 40.0 cm., An aged metal vessel with a rounded body narrowing to a tall neck and flared rim, mounted on a flared segmented base; the surface shows a patina with shades of green and brown and areas of darker verdigris; the body has horizontal ridges encircling it and a pair of small looped handles on opposite sides with short hanging bars; the base has recessed panels and curved edges; the object is set against a plain light gray background and rests on a reflective surface that produces a subtle mirrored outline.
