Belt clasp, Chinese, Chinese art, cicadas, lizards zool., Qing 1644–1911. Stem: stylized cicada with a geometric meander motif. Milky-white jadeite, slightly translucent visible clusters of colloids. Head carved in full relief, flat relief. 17th–18th century, China. Belt buckle. Height 1.8 cm, width 8.0 cm, depth 2.1 cm., A smooth pale white carved object resembling an elongated animal form rests on a light surface, with a curved tail or neck ending in a rounded head at one end and a domed, patterned shell or back at the other; the carving shows shallow raised geometric and circular motifs, smooth rounded contours, and casts a soft gray shadow on the surface beneath. The visible colors are white, pale off-white, light gray, and darker gray in the background gradient.
