Openwork cover decorated with a floral tendril and topped with a komainu figure mythical beast. 2nd half of the 19th century Meiji period, 1868–1912, Japan. Incense burner; height 13.8 cm, diameter 12.9 cm., A group of metal objects displayed on a reflective surface against a gray background includes a small tripod bowl with decorative reliefs and ring handles in dark brown and gold tones, a domed perforated lid topped by a small sculpted animal figure in gold, and several separate circular frames and rings in dark brown and coppery gold. The colors visible include gray, dark brown, gold, and copper.
