Incense burner kôro of the ding type with a cover. Incense burner with two handles knobs, on three legs. Openwork cover decorated with a floral tendril and topped with a komainu figure mythical beast. Meiji period, 2nd half of the 19th century 1868–1912. Japan. Bronze, height 13.8 cm, diameter 12.9 cm., The image shows a small ornate tripod vessel with a perforated lid topped by a sculpted animal figure; the vessel sits on a reflective surface against a plain background. The object displays metallic colors including gold, bronze, and dark brown, with a few areas of lighter worn metal; the lid has a patterned perforation and a textured rim, the body features decorative raised medallions and a ring hanging from one side, and the three tapered legs show wear and metallic sheen.
