Incense burner koro of the ding type with a cover. Incense burner with two handles knobs, on three legs. Openwork cover decorated with a floral tendril and topped with a komainu figure mythical beast. Meiji period 2nd half of the 19th century, 1868–1912. Japan. Height 13.8 cm; diameter 12.9 cm., An ornate metal censer sits centered against a gray background, featuring a domed perforated lid topped by a small sculpted figurine; the body rests on three slender legs and has decorative appliqués and ring handles on its sides. The visible colors include gold, dark bronze, black, and hints of brown, with the gold appearing on the lid, figurine, rim, decorative details, and leg accents while darker bronze and black color the main body and recessed areas. The surface displays polished highlights and areas of darker patina, and a soft reflection of the object appears on the surface beneath it.
