Bottle, porcelain with painted bamboos, pines, plums and sake motif Three Friends of Winter, Imari style, ca. 1700–1730, Arita, Japan; height 22.3 cm, diameter 12.2 cm., An off-white ceramic vase with a long narrow neck and a rounded body decorated with hand-painted floral and botanical motifs in blue, red-orange, green, and yellow, featuring stylized leaves and branches, a band of floral ornament near the neck, and a pattern of pointed leaf shapes near the base; the surface shows fine crackle in the glaze and the background appears a pale gray-beige.
