Bottle, porcelain with bamboo, pine, and plum decorations Three Friends of Winter, Imari-style sake bottle, ca. 1700–1730, Arita, Japan; height 22.3 cm, diameter 12.2 cm., A porcelain bottle-shaped vase with a long narrow neck and bulbous body, predominantly white with visible crackle in the glaze, decorated with blue, orange, red, green, gold, and brown painted floral and branch motifs, including stylized blossoms and leaves around the shoulder and body, a band of blue near the base and a patterned border of leaf-like shapes in red above the foot, and additional blue brushwork forming branches and accents around the surface against a neutral gray background.
